This site is a practice tool for the Canadian citizenship knowledge test. It collects what it needs to run, and says so here in plain terms rather than in a page nobody finishes.
What is collected
If you make an account: your email address, or your Google sign-in if you use it, along with your chosen language and — only if you enter one — the date you expect to sit the real test. You can practise without an account at all, and if you do, no email is held.
How you practise: the tests you take, the answers you give, your scores, the questions you flag or save, and where you have read to in the study guide. This is what makes progress tracking work.
If you buy: the purchase is handled by Stripe and card details never reach this site. What is kept here is a customer reference and the access it granted.
Analytics
Product analytics runs on PostHog, which processes data in the United States. It is used to see which parts of the site are used and where they fail — never to build a profile for advertising, and the data is never sold or shared with advertisers.
What runs by default
Anonymous usage measurement: pages viewed, features used, errors encountered. It is not linked to your name or email, and this notice is the disclosure it relies on.
What is off until you agree
Session recordings and any analytics tied to your account are switched off unless you turn them on. Recordings mask everything you type — passwords, email addresses, and anything written in a feedback or report box — and free-text messages you send are never passed to analytics at all.
If you are in Quebec, the EU, the EEA or the UK
Everything in the section above stays off until you choose otherwise. In Quebec this follows Law 25, which requires technology capable of profiling or tracking to be deactivated by default; the same default is applied to visitors from the EU, the EEA and the UK.
Who else handles it
Stripe for payments, Amazon SES for transactional email such as confirmations and password resets, Google if you choose to sign in with it, PostHog for analytics, and Cloudflare and Railway to serve and host the site. Each receives only what its job requires.
How long it is kept
Account and practice data are kept while the account exists. Practice history can be cleared at any time from the account menu, without deleting the account. Ask for the account itself to be deleted and it goes, along with the analytics record attached to it.
Turning it off
Analytics can be switched off at any time, and the choice is remembered in your browser. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are honoured automatically — if your browser sends either, nothing is collected and you need do nothing else.
